JoJo's Driving Solutions (formerly JoJo's Driving School) was established in 2000 & is run by myself Joanne Falkingham DVSA ADI (car), DipHE (open).
I am a fully qualified, DBS checked, approved driving instructor and have been since 2000. I am a patient, friendly female driving instructor, at Grade A (top grade) standard. I work independently so you are guaranteed to deal with me & not a call centre.
I aim to focus on your driving and train you to be a safe and competent driver. Being a safe and competent driver is a skill for life and not just to impress the driving examiner on driving test day.
I use Northallerton Driving Test Centre
I take pupils for automatic driving lessons & manual driving lessons in Thirsk & Northallerton. (Please check if I cover your village near these towns)
Please note: all driving lessons and driving tests must be taken in my driving school cars.
I am a member of the DIA (Driving Instructors Association)
I have a Diploma in Higher Education (open)
I am also a DIAmond Accredited Taxi Driver Trainer (DATT)

I'll be back out doing driving lessons from Monday 12th April after yet another lengthy absence due to Government guidelines on Covid-19. I can't wait to see you all again & be meeting some new pupils along the way.
I have had my first covid jab and I'm taking part in the home testing along with my children twice weekly.
Due to new Government guidance I will only be booking in driving lessons of 1 hour & 1.5 hours, as we have been advised not to do any longer than 1.5 hours due to the implications of being in close proximity to another person not in your household.
The training cars controls will be sanitised before & after you drive, they also will be subject to a weekly deep clean by myself.
I will contact you before your first driving lesson & I will discuss the new procedures in more detail along with any queries you may have regarding the wearing of PPE or any other questions you may have. As always, please contact me to let me know if you are feeling unwell on the day of your lesson & to reduce risk we will reschedule.
I will wear a face mask (& gloves if necessary) during driving lessons; you can do this too as long as what you wear doesn't impair safety. I also have the facility to check your temperature remotely before the lesson commences.
I am aware that many of you may have been off the road for several weeks now and may find it a daunting prospect to resume driving. It could be the case that you need to drive to work now as you are trying to avoid public transport or that your work situation has changed. Please feel free to contact me if you want to refresh your skills or just to rebuild your confidence in getting out there again. Every session will be tailored to your individual needs.
***On my return to work, I am going to be dedicating 2 hours per week for refresher driver training so you won't have to wait too long to refresh your driving skills***

DBS Check
This is a Disclosure & Barring check done on all instructors every 4 years to ensure we are 'fit and proper' to do our job.
Does your instructor claim to be CRB checked?
CRB changed to DBS on 1st March 2013; as that's over 8 years ago now, how well do they keep up to date? Are they still qualified? This leads nicely on to...
ADI/PDI
ADI stands for Approved Driving Instructor
PDI stands for Potential Driving Instructor (often referred to as a trainee instructor)
I refer to the pictures; the one on the left is an ADI badge, a green octagon, the date on this badge MUST be a date in the future. The one on the right is a PDI badge, a pink triangle, again the date on it MUST be in the future.
*Regardless of being an ADI or PDI the badge MUST be clearly displayed in the instructors windscreen*
IMPORTANT! If your driving instructor does not display either of these badges or the date has expired then they may not be qualified or a licensed trainee and therefore cannot legally charge for driving lessons. In addition, their car won't be correctly insured. If this is the case they should be reported to the DVSA.
Grade A or Grade B?
We are checked periodically to ensure that we continue to meet DVSA standards, this is known as a standards check. All instructors are graded A or B (A being the highest). Just over 30% of instructors are Grade A.
The standards check replaced the check test on 7th April 2014, so if you are interested to know what your instructors grade is they should be telling you A or B, all instructors will have had the new standards check by now, many have had more than 1. If you are being told Grade 4, 5 or 6 (6 used to be the highest) then query it, they may have 'dodged' the new standards check & may not even still be qualified!
If you have questions about what programs we have available to you, feel free to send us a message. We will get back to you as soon as possible.
